I have turned my attention to the Border Crisis, which I explore in my latest book "Borderline." This new journalistic pursuit has led to enlightening interviews, providing me with a fresh perspective as I investigate the complexities and human narratives of this urgent matter.
SITUATION
Over the last century, the situation along the U.S.-Mexico border has remained volatile and controversial, while managing to be widely ignored by the corporate media and the majority of the American public. The reality and conditions along the border have been downplayed, exaggerated, politicized, and criticized, but rarely portrayed honestly and accurately.
While the majority of the American population remains misinformed and divided on this topic, crime, human trafficking, drug smuggling, along with cartel violence, continue to impact our nation’s security like a silent cancer, all the while leaving the American people asking; “What is really going on down there”?
MISSION
Vincent “Rocco” Vargas knows firsthand the reality of the current crisis and has the experience to finally shed light on the situation unfolding along our southern border.
Before becoming a successful entrepreneur and Hollywood actor, Vince spent almost a decade in the U.S. Border Patrol working as an elite BORSTAR agent attached to the federal government’s premier tactical unit, BORTAC. Vince will tell the unvarnished story of the current border crisis to better inform and educate the American public about life on the border and the ongoing humanitarian and security crisis.
The project aims to be a firsthand account, boots on a ground perspective, focusing on our nation’s current immigration policies and their impacts, the dangers of crossing and patrolling the border, combatting drug smuggling and human trafficking, and much more.
EXECUTION
Equipped with water, a medical kit, and a camera, Vince will navigate the inhospitable and often dangerous U.S.-Mexico border to bring the viewers an unprecedented and unapologetic first-hand account of the dangers, struggles, triumphs, and failures of our nation’s border security apparatus as well as the harsh reality of daily life along the U.S. Mexico border.
